Water Quality: Swimming Area
Water samples are periodically tested by Oakland County Health Division. Each time, three areas are sampled within the roped swimming area between the docks & rope, labeled as Left, Center, and Right.
The average reading level of E. coli should be below 300 CFU/100mL for safe swimming.
In the event of high bacteria reading, the Oakland County Health Department will shut down our beach temporarily. OCHD representatives will come to re-test the water themselves, and will re-open the swimming area when test levels return to normal. PLEBA will alert members via email ASAP if we hear that this happens.
