Water Quality: Swimming Area

A volunteer in our community collects water samples periodically and has them tested for E. coli by Oakland County Health Division. He tests three areas within the roped swimming area, between the docks & middle rope, labeled as Left, Center, and Right.

The average reading level of E. coli should be below 300 CFU/100mL for safe swimming.

In the event of a high E. coli reading, the Oakland County Health Department will shut down our beach temporarily. OCHD representatives will come to re-test the water themselves, and will re-open the swimming area when test levels return to normal.
